Alan Gelfant is both a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor, and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in New Hampshire and Vermont. He has a wide range ofclinical experience with adults, adolescents, and couples and families. He has worked with incarcerated populations, in residential treatment, and communitymental health. His approach is trauma informed, strength based, and person centered. He has worked extensively with domestic violence victims, and abusers, aswell as clients with a wide range of personality and mood disorders. He is specialized in treatment for Depression, Anxiety, Anger Management, BorderlinePersonality, Bi- Polar, and Dissociative Disorders.

Alan has years of experience working with clients with substance use disorders. His approach encompasses cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based strategies,and he is well versed with 12 Step and Buddhist Refuge Recovery Programs. He has run IOP, Seeking Safety, Harm Reduction, and Recovery Support groups-worked with court mandated clients with either driving (DUI) or criminal convictions, and is knowledgeable in medication management.

Alan has advanced training in EMDR, ACT, DBT, the Emerge (DV) program, and is a certified MRT (Moral Reconation Therapy) group facilitator.

Central to Alan's therapeutic philosophy is the belief that the most effective change and healing comes from the therapeutic alliance between client, and counselor.
