Is Integrative Health Coaching for Me?

Integrative Health Coaching (IHC) is a positive, strengths-based approach to optimizing your health and well-being. We will partner with you to create lasting lifestyle and health changes. At Counseling Associates, our tagline is helping people lead thriving lives. This is what Integrative Health Coaching is all about.

Health is more than a number. A number on a readout or on a paper doesn’t tell your health story. Whether it’s the digits on a scale, a heart rate or blood pressure, or even the number of cookies you eat, glasses of wine you drink or cigarettes you smoke, there’s so much more to your health story. What do you love? Where do you find fulfillment? How satisfied are you in your life? Your health story includes enjoyment, satisfaction, meaning, hope, and what’s important to you. A whole person view of health looks at many interdependent areas of your life including:

  • environment
  • sleep
  • movement
  • nutrition
  • relationships
  • spirituality
  • resiliency

You are the expert on you. We know about lifestyle, behavior, integrative health and change. You know about you. You know what you want. You know what is important to you. You know what has and hasn’t worked for you. You know where you want to be. We can help you get there.

You probably know a lot about lifestyle and health, too. You may feel frustrated because you are facing a large gap between what you know and what you are doing. Coaching helps you bridge that gap.

And coaching is not only for those who are struggling to achieve their goals. Many individuals who have been successful in reaching their goals seek out an Integrative Health Coach. That is because they are an expert on themselves. They know that having an objective someone in their corner who supports and challenges them helps them stay on track and continue to succeed.

The coaching process is not about us telling you what you need to do. I bet you are already doing plenty of should-ing to yourself — and you may even have plenty of others joining in. We’re not going to be another of the should-ers. Coaching is not about judgment. Coaching is about joining with you to support you in finding your best solutions and strategies to get what you want.

There’s no cookie cutter here. We’re not going to have you and your goals fit in some form, model, or box. We are going to create and customize a plan together that is going to work for you.

Everyone brings their own unique health stories and goals. Are you trying to work on goals you and your healthcare provider have discussed?

  • Making exercise a more regular part of your life
  • Achieving a healthy body weight
  • Quitting smoking
  • Following a new eating plan
  • Improving sleep patterns
  • Reducing stress
  • Reducing your blood pressure

Or maybe you have your own personal goals you are striving to reach?

  • Completing a project
  • Creating a more desirable work/life balance
  • Developing a mindfulness practice
  • Improving your sense of connection with others
  • Cultivating self-compassion
  • Putting what matters more in the center of your life
  • Resuming activities you valued before or developing new valued activities and practices
  • Establishing more meaning & satisfaction in your life
  • Developing a roadmap for a new chapter of your life

Change is possible. In fact, change is unavoidable. We’ll partner with you to make sure your change moves you in your desired directions.
